The Amazon

A 120-foot high canopy tower gives outstanding views of the jungle canopy, and hides at the nearby clay licks afford an unforgettable birding experience as many species of parrots, macaws and parakeets gather there. Another 50-foot high viewing platform overlooks the lake, and on a clear day, as far as the Andes. As well as the birds at the clay lick, you can expect to see monkeys, giant otters, tanagers, toucans, and many other species (Download checklists of mammals and birds here). The famous "Manakin Trail" with 6 species of manakins, begins here. Capybara visit the lodge most nights, and if you are very lucky you might see peccaries, tapir, brocket deer, or jungle cats.
Your accommodation will be the most luxurious lodge in Ecuador's Amazon, with ten cabañas, large rooms with private bathroom and hot shower, and 24 hour electricity. Ceiling fans and screens protect you from insects at night. There is a large dining hall with a library and a well-stocked bar.
